an AI skill · built for Claude · runs where skills run

Your brain makes lightning. Catch every bolt.

Say “squirrel that” mid-sentence and this AI skill (born on Claude) bottles the idea — 13 fields, about five seconds — then hands your momentum straight back.

Caught in the wild.

Same move, your idea.
The bolt gets bottled.

The capture up top is real, drawn to scale. Try it yourself — type half a thought, half is enough. You never leave the conversation and the skill never asks a question.

how it works

You are not short on ideas.
You are rich with them.

The good ones strike mid-sentence — that is exactly how it should be. Your lightning deserves equipment that keeps pace. Three moves, none of them yours to make.

Say “squirrel that”

You are already talking to Claude, so just say it. Nothing to open, no folder to pick, no tags to fill in.

The bolt gets bottled whole

The idea, what you were building when it struck, how bright it burned, and the cheapest next step to prove it out. Thirteen fields, zero questions.

You are back in five seconds

Now — back to the webhook. Where were we? Not one follow-up question. Your momentum is the thing this was built to protect.

the Squirrel Box

Then the brightest one wins.

Every bolt you bottle goes in the Squirrel Box. The Chase runs first Monday of every month: the top 5 carry forward and earn a nut; the rest get a line about what they taught you. Twelve months on, the bolt holding the most nuts is your idea of the year. You never had to pick it. It earned it.

Press Run the Chase to watch a month go by — or fast-forward the year.

Five carry forward

Five, not twenty. A tight field is what makes winning mean something, and what makes the winner obvious.

The rest teach you

Each one gets a line on what you learned. A year of those is a map of how you think, in your own words.

Six nuts = green light

An idea that keeps beating fresh competition has told you everything you need. Put a date on it and build.

install

Installed in about 90 seconds.

One ZIP, three doors. The two Claude doors are the smoothest-paved — but any AI that runs skills can walk in.

Claude.ai · Desktop · Cowork

  1. Open Settings → Capabilities → Skills
  2. Upload skill → pick your squirrel-*.zip (free or full — same doors)
  3. Toggle it on. Say “squirrel that.”

Upload the ZIP as-is — it keeps the squirrel/ folder at the root, which is what Claude expects. (A loose SKILL.md won't register. We zipped it right so you never think about it.)

Claude Code

terminal
# the folder lands in ~/.claude/skills
unzip squirrel-free.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/
any session
/squirrel

That's the whole install. From then on, /squirrel — or just saying it — runs the capture.

Everywhere else

  1. Skills-capable agent? Agent Skills began at Anthropic in October 2025 and is now an open standard adopted across major AI platforms — point yours at the unzipped squirrel/ folder.
  2. Any capable AI at all? Open SKILL.md and paste it in as instructions. It's plain markdown — any AI that reads can follow it.

Honest label: this road is less paved than the two above — Claude is the first-class, best-tested path. But the road walks.

Pick your box: where the bolts land.

Plain file (zero setup — the default) · Notion (preferred — the original lives there) · anywhere else that holds text.

The Notion route, paved

  1. Create a Notion database named Squirrel Box 🐿️
  2. Add the 13 properties — the full property-by-property guide ships in the ZIP as references/notion-setup.md
  3. Connect your AI to Notion (in Claude: Settings → Connectors → Notion)
  4. On your first capture, tell the skill where the box lives — it remembers from then on

No Notion? The plain file works forever, offline, yours. The box is yours either way.

What lands on disk: a folder of markdown. Nothing hides.

Open every file in a text editor before you install a thing. A skill is instructions, not software — this is all of them.

Read every line before you install. It's a folder of markdown, not a black box — if a skill won't show you its files, don't run it.

Captures land in a plain file you own — the default. Already live in Notion, Airtable, Obsidian, Google Sheets, ClickUp, or Apple Notes? Point the skill there and it goes.

There are thousands of free skills. Why is this $147?

Because the free tier is one of them — capture, free forever, every line inspectable above. The $147 buys the system that took two years of monthly use to get right: the Chase ritual, the Squirrel Box tournament, the ranking that crowns your idea of the year, and updates as the ecosystem moves. It's the workflow you'd charge a client for, not a prompt anyone could type.

a note from the founder

I kept losing my best ideas to my own momentum. Mid-build, mid-call, a real one would strike — and I'd wave it off to protect the thread. By Friday it was gone.

So I taught Claude to catch them without breaking my stride. Capture took a weekend. The Squirrel Box tournament — the part that tells you which one actually matters — took two years of monthly Chases to get right.

Capture is free because it should be. The tournament is the part worth paying for.

the honest answers

Questions, answered plainly.

A skill is a folder of markdown instructions an AI follows — an open format that started at Anthropic. On claude.ai or Claude Desktop: Settings → Capabilities → Skills → upload the ZIP → toggle it on. In Claude Code: unzip it into ~/.claude/skills. About 90 seconds either way, and from then on “squirrel that” just works. Other skills-capable agents point at the same folder.

For the smoothest path, yes — a Claude plan that supports custom skills: Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise on claude.ai and Claude Desktop, or Claude Code. Running it on another skills-capable platform instead? Then no Claude plan is needed at all — see “Does it work outside Claude?” below.

No — the default box is a plain text file on your computer: zero setup, offline, yours. But Notion is the preferred box, because the original skill was born in a Notion database. The ZIP ships with references/notion-setup.md — a property-by-property guide to building the Squirrel Box 🐿️ database in about two minutes.

Never during capture — that is the strictest rule in the whole thing. Give it half a sentence and it runs with the rest. The full system earns exactly one question a season: when an idea green-lights, it asks for your start date.

Perfect. The Squirrel Box was built for volume. Bottle 40 in a month if that is your rhythm. Only 5 ever carry forward, so a fuller box makes the winner sharper. More lightning is always better here.

A skill file you install and own outright. No subscription, no seats, no server, no login. It adds the Chase, the Squirrel Box tournament, nut counts, your idea of the year, and a guide of worked examples.

Bottling is the straightforward half, so it should be free and it always will be. The Squirrel Box tournament took two years to get right and it is the part that turns a year of good ideas into the one you build. Charging for the hard half felt more honest than watering down both.

They live in a plain file on your machine — or your own Notion database, if you point the skill there. Nothing is uploaded to us, and there is no account to hold your data hostage.

Yes — with honest asterisks. Agent Skills began at Anthropic in October 2025 and became an open standard since adopted across major AI platforms. Any agent that runs skills can point at this folder, and because SKILL.md is plain markdown, you can paste it into any capable AI as instructions. Claude stays the best-paved, best-tested path — and your box is plain text either way, so it travels with you.

If it’s not for you, email me within 30 days and I’ll refund you. Unconditionally. No form, no call, no “can I ask why.”
